Recruiting-Trends-2016aNext year the demands for hiring are expected to increase which means in 2016 employers have even more at stake.  Is your recruiting strategy ready to make the most out of 2016?  Since there is always an opportunity to improve a plan, we’re featuring some of the trends for the coming year based on LinkedIn’s Global Recruiting Trends 2016.  In addition, we’ve also highlighted some special tips that will help employers manage next year’s trends more effectively.

LinkedIn’s Global Recruiting Trends 2016

The report which surveyed 3,894 corporate “talent acquisition decision makers” had key trends for the 2016 year. Take a look at these key trends:

– 39% agree quality of hire is the most valuable metric for performance
– 26% consider employee referral programs to be a long-lasting trend
– 32% say employee retention is a top priority over the next 12 months
– 59% are investing more in their employer brand compared to last year

Some of the biggest challenges are budget, sourcing candidates, compensation and competition. The lack of budget to support HR department hiring demands is the growing challenge for companies even though the hiring needs have steadily increased within the last two years. Forty-six percent said that “finding candidates in high demand talent pool” is an ongoing issue. Compensation is a close second with forty-three percent confirming that obstacle continues to grow.  Competition challenges is the final obstacle coming in at thirty-nine percent. Depending on the company, many employers have already finalized their 2016 plans while others are still making final tweaks. Wherever your business is in the planning process, there will no doubt be ongoing changes. Some of the best-laid plans come down to execution and the willingness to adapt to challenges and obstacles when the need arises. Given those challenges and obstacles we mentioned above, we’ve highlighted some important tips to help you get the most of the 2016 year.

Important tips to help Employers Recruit in 2016

  • Assessments and Analytics: By now employers should be measuring their recruiting programs to evaluate how their doing and ways to improve. Since the quality of the hire is so essential, assessments and analytics are a must. Additionally, with budget and compensation being a challenge next year, analytics can help hiring managers isolate their problem areas in their recruiting process and can help improve their budget and bottom line.

  • Ongoing Team Input: Some of your best intel can come from your internal hiring managers and department managers. After every hire, offer or even interview, collect feedback to see how you can save or improve your process. In addition, these ongoing touch points will help improve communication and help your teams become more efficient.

  • Passive Candidate Recruiting: Since high demand positions will undoubtedly increase, then identifying more ways to target passive candidates will be a vital way to overcome this obstacle. Look for way to identify and target those passive candidates in your industry. Create open dialogue with them to discover what would motivate them to move to another company.

  • More Efficient Hiring Process: The demand to hire faster isn’t going away, and the challenges with budget make it difficult to overcome this obstacle. The savviest hiring managers will have to look for more efficient way to make faster hiring decisions without sacrificing quality. In most cases it will come down a company’s talent pool and process. Improving these two will help give a company more of an edge on their competitors.

  • Recruiting Candidates with Transferable skills: With high demand positions being an obstacle, hiring managers will need to evaluate candidates with skills that can transfer into other positions or industries. Most hiring managers are already doing this, but we recommend reviewing those positions that can allow transferable skills in advance so potential applicants are not accidentally overlooked. This tip can help hiring managers find quality candidates quickly and will also help with budget challenges.

These are just a few suggestions to help your business overcome some of the trending issues for next year. If you’re struggling with any of these obstacles and have concerns about reaching your 2016 hiring demands, you may what to consult with a third party consultant or recruiter. Partnering with a firm with a solid reputation and a proven track record can truly help you achieve all your 2016 recruiting goals.
